Aloo Puri (Potato Bread) 

Aloo Puri is an option to having puri and sabji separately. There are many occasions when it is difficult to carry sabji with you when you are travelling or when kids are on to a picnic or similar situation, then this option gives you all ingredients of sabji i.e. aloo along with methi.

Methi also enhances taste of puri with its aroma. My mom used to pack this often in my lunch box as kids are notorious for leaving sabji unfinished...

Preparation Time : 20 min



Cooking Time : 10 Min

Ingredients :




  • 2 Cup wheat flour 
  • 2 Tablespoon rava (sooji)
  • 2 Medium size boiled and grated potato
  • 2 Tablespoon dried fenugreek leaves (methi)
  • 2 green Chillies chopped
  • 1 Inch grated ginger
  • Salt according to taste
  • Red chilly powder according to taste
  • Oil for frying + 1 Tablespoon oil
Procedure : 
  • Take potatoes boil it peel it and grate it and keep aside 
  • In a bowl take wheat flour, rava, methi, salt, chilly powder, boiled granted potatoes, grated ginger, chopped green chillies and a tablespoon of oil and mix well






  • Add little bit of water and knead the dough nicely. Once the dough is done keep it aside for 20 minutes







  • Heat oil in a pan or kadai. Make small balls of the dough and roll them into flat puri

  • Deep fry puri in a hot oil and repeat the same steps with rest of puris







  • Serve it with hot cup of tea or coffee


Tips :
  • Fry puris on medium heat
  • You can use fresh methi leaves also (methi leaves are optional in case you want to avoid this you can use coriander leaves also)
