Sandwich Rice Dhokla  

Dhokla is a steamed snacks item, which is an healthy option to munch during breaks. Extremely popular with Gujrati friends. This option is a variant over regular dhokla so enjoy this with family and friends...







Preparation Time : 20 Min

Resting Time : 10 to 12 hours

Cooking Time : 20 Min

Ingredients :


  • 1 Cup rice
  • Black gram skinless dal (urad dal) 1/3 cup
  • Yellow gram dal (Channa dal) 2 Tablespoon
  • Curd 1/2 cup
  • 1 Tablespoon oil
  • 2 Green chilly
  • Ginger 1 inch piece
  • 1/2 Tablespoon fruit salt (I used eno)
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 Tablespoon sugar
For Tadka :


  • 1 Tablespoon oil
  • 1 Teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 Green chilly chopped
  • Pinch of hing
  • 1/2 Tablespoon til seeds
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped coriander leaves 
  • 1 Teaspoon red chilly powder
For Green Chutney (you can use any kind of green chutney) :
  • 1/2 Cup coriander leaves
  • 2 to 3 green chiles
  • 1 medium size green tomato
  • 2 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt according to your taste
Procedure :

For chutney :
  • Add all the chutney ingredients in a mixer jar and mix it well. your chutney is ready keep it aside 
For Dhokla :
  • In a bowl soak rice and both dals in water for an hour or two

  • In a mixer add soaked rice and dals along with green chilly, ginger and salt and grind it nicely, till you get a smooth paste

  • In a bowl take this mixture, add curd and 1 tablespoon of oil, mix it well



  • Keep this mixture aside in a warm place for eight to ten hours so that the mixture gets fermented 

  • Once the batter is fermented, add sugar and lemon juice to this mixture and mix well

  • Grease the dhokla plates

  • Now add fruit salt to the batter and mix it



  • Pour batter in dhokla plates and repeat the steps with rest of the plates

  • keep this in a steamer and steam dhokla for 15 to 18 minutes

  • Once it is down, do a knife check. If knife comes clean that means dhokla is cooked properly. Take it out on a platter

  • Take one dhokla from plate apply green chutney on it as shown in picture. Now place the second dhokla on it 





For Tadka (tempering) :
  • In a pan add a tablespoon of oil
  • Once oil is heated add mustard seeds, pinch of hing once it is tempered add chopped green chiles

  • Now add til seeds, roast it for 10 seconds, add chopped coriander and chilly powder, pour this tadka on dhokla




  • Cut dhokla into pieces, you will get nice green colour layer inside ... 
  • Serve it with tea or coffee

Watermelon Coconut Mocktail

Ingredients :


  • 1 Medium size watermelon
  • 400 ml Coconut water (fresh or packed which ever is available)
  • 2 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • Few mint leaves
  • 2 Cup ice cubes
For  Garnishing :
  • Few lemon slices
  • Few mint leaves
Procedure :
  • Cut water melon in small pieces. Remove the seeds 

  • In a blender take water melon pieces along with 2 tablespoon of lemon juice and blend it


  • With the help of stainer, separate the water melon juice and keep aside

  • Now add few chopped mint leaves and coconut water in water melon juice and mix it well



  • Take serving glasses, add ice cubes along with lemon slice and mint leaves and pour juice mixture in glass


  • Watermelon coconut mocktail is ready 




Tip : If you want to make it more sweet add sugar syrup to this

Rose Phirni

Rose Phirni  

Rich creamy rose flavoured rice pudding or phirni is always a favourite as festive season is round the corner. So lot of guests will be visiting your home and delighting with exotic dish will definitely give solid appreciation looks for your culinary skills. Rose favour and rose petals will add richness to the taste.

(Phirni is a kind of kheer, where we are using coarse paste of rice and you can play with flavours like rose, mango, khus or kesari. Choice is yours to play with the flavours)




Preparation Time : 10 Min

Cooking Time : 30 Mins

Resting Time : 2 Hours

Ingredients :



  • 1/2 Cup rice
  • 1 litre Milk (full cream)
  • 2 Tablespoon dry rose petals
  • 2 Tablespoon rose syrup
  • Almonds and pistachio nuts
  • 1/2 Cup sugar


Procedure :
  • Soak 1 tablespoon of rose petal in water for half an hour. and keep balance for garnishing 
  • Wash and soak rice in water for half an hour and then grind it along with the soaked rose petals to form a course paste




  • In a pan add milk, heat it till it starts boiling

  • Now add rice paste to boiling milk and make sure that lumps do not form. Cook this on medium or slow flame till rice gets cooked properly. Stir it constantly 



  • Once it is cooked add sugar and rose syrup and cook for a minute or two. Now add chopped almonds, pistachio and rose petals 



  • Transfer this into a serving dish and garnish it with nuts and rose petals

  • Before serving keep it in refrigerator for two hours 



Tip : You can also add green cardamom powder
