Quick Puffed Rice or Murmure Snacks....

We all love munching while watching TV or while reading or while gossiping with friends ..... but some time this habit of munching is not good as we add lots of calories to our diet while munching as the snacks we munch are high in calories ..... so I try to keep this quick and low calorie snacks handy in my kitchen ....

Preparation Time : 5 Min

Cooking Time : 7 Min

Ingredients :

  • 1 Bowl puffed rice (murmure)
  • 1/2 Bowl thin poha (flattened rice thin one)
  • Few curry leaves
  • 3 Tablespoon peanuts
  • Pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon red chilly powder or according to taste
  • Salt according to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon oil for cooking
Procedure :
  • In a pan take oil, add peanuts, roast it for a minute or two to till it is bit brown in colour 

  • Now add curry leaves 

  • Add turmeric powder and red chilly powder to this
  • Now add thin poha (flattened rice) to this, cook it for a minute or two on low flame or till it is crisp
  • Now add puffed rice to this mixture and again cook this mixture for 2 minutes on low flame

  • Add salt to this. keep it for some time 
  • Now transfer this to an airtight box and use it when ever you want to munch .....

Bread Poha

Bread Poha

Simple and easy way to serve bread in breakfast with goodness of vegetables and crunch of peanuts ....

Preparation Time : 7 Min

Cooking Time : 7 - 8 Min

Ingredients :

  • 6 Brown Bread slices (cut into square pieces)
  • 1 Onion sliced
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 Chopped tomato
  • 1 Green capsicum finely chopped
  • 1 Red capsicum (bell pepper) finely chopped
  • 2 Table spoon peanuts (moongphali)
  • 1 Chopped green chilly
  • 1 Teaspoon mustard seeds (rai)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon urad dal 
  • 1/2 Teaspoon channa dal
  • Pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
  • Salt according to taste
  • Red chilly powder according to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon coriander leaves
  • 1 Teaspoon sugar (optional according to your taste)
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoon oil
Procedure :
  • Take bread cut it into square pieces as shown in picture

  • Now take a pan, add oil, once heated add mustard seeds and curry leaves 

  • Now add peanuts, roast it for a minute, add channa dal and urad dal, cook it for a minute

  • Add onion to this, stir for a minute then add chopped tomatoes and green chillies

  • Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilly powder, mix it well

  • Now add chopped red and green capsicum, cook for a minute or two

  • Add bread squares to this mixture, sprinkle few drops of water so that bread is coated with vegetable mixture nicely

  • Switch off the gas, add lemon juice, sugar and coriander leaves. Mix well and serve it hot

Tip : You can add green peas, paneer or any other vegetable of your choice

Cheesy Garlic Pizza Sticks

Cheesy Garlic Pizza Sticks in Microwave

Kids are very choosy and when they are hungry they need some thing to be served immediately. So let's use readymade pizza base bread as a quick cheesy snacks for our kids. As kids love pizza, cheese and butter they will surely enjoy these cheesy sticks ......

Preparation Time : 10 Min

Cooking Time : 5 - 6 Min

Ingredients :

  • For 16 sticks 1 Medium size pizza base
  • 4 Tablespoon butter (melted)
  • 1 Teaspoon chilly flakes
  • 1 Teaspoon roasted garlic flakes
  • 2 Tablespoon chopped parsley or you can use coriander if parsley is not available
  • 1 Tablespoon oregano 
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 Tablespoon pickled jalapeno chopped (optional)
  • 8 Tablespoon grated pizza cheese (or according to your taste)
Procedure :
  • Take a pizza base cut it horizontally from the centre to get two rounds as shown in picture 
  • Now cut each rounds in 8 sticks or wedges so that you can have 16 sticks

  • Now melt the butter
  • Keep your microwave in preheat mode
  • In a bowl mix butter, chilly flakes, garlic flakes, parsley, oregano, chopped jalapeno and a pinch of salt
  • Now with the help of brush you can apply this mixture on inner cut side of pizza bread and sprinkle some cheese on this

  • Now set your microwave on convection mode at 200 degree C for 5 - 6 minute or sticks are crisp 

  • Cheesy Garlic Pizza sticks are ready in Microwave for your kids...

Cherry Minty Shots

Cherry Minty Shots

Who wants to be served with cold drinks now a days. Friends and family today are more interested in fancy innovative mocktails which everyone can relish. Here is one made with bright cherries with the freshness of mint and lime to thrill your tastebuds...try and enjoy with friends and family

Serves : 4

Preparation Time : 10 Min

Cooking Time : 0 Min

Ingredients :

  • 1 Cup fresh a dark red Cherries (Washed and deseeded)
  • 3 Tablespoon sugar syrup (Simple sugar dissolved in water around 4 tablespoon sugar in 1/2 cup of water)
  • 2 Tablespoon lime juice
  • A handful of mint leaves
  • 300 ml Soda water
  • Few Ice cubes

For Garnishing :
  • Few cherries
  • Few mint leaves
  • Lime wedges 
  • Toothpick

Procedure :
  • Take cherry wash them and deseed them 

  • Now in a blender add cherries, sugar syrup, mint leaves, lime wedges and lime juice. Blend altogether nicely

  • Now with the help of stainer stain the mixture. 
  • Take a glass add crushed ice, add cherry, few roughly chopped mint leaves and small lime wedges as shown in picture

  • Now pour 3 to 4 tablespoon of cherry mixture to this and top up with soda water

  • Garnish it with mint leaves and lime wedges 

  • Cherry Minty Shots are ready, enjoy it with friends and family ..
