Crispy Chana Chat   

Mouth watering smell when vendor selling chana-chaat passes when we are sitting in a train. To revive same age old memories with hygiene of your home, I am presenting below chana-chaat with a twist. Chaat made of boiled chana is quite common. Here I gave it a different feel by making it crispy. Do try it and delight your kids and guests with this delicious protein powerhouse.







Preparation Time : 30 Min

Cooking Time : 30 Min

Ingredients : 

For Crispy Chana  


  • Boiled Black gram (Kala Chana) 1 cup
  • Cooking oil 1 tablespoon 
  • Dry mango powder 1 tea spoon
  • Salt according to taste
  • Red chilly powder according to taste



For Chat :

  • Crispy chana
  • Onion chopped 2 tablespoon
  • Tomato chopped 2 Tablespoon
  • Green chilly chopped
  • Coriander chopped
  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon
  • Chat Masala 1 tea spoon
Procedure :  
  • Take boiled chana in a plate or a plan surface. Now press this with a spoon as shown in picture



  • In a pan take a tablespoon of oil and toast crushed chana on a low flame for 5 to 10 minutes till these are crispy


  • Now add Salt, chilly powder and dry mango powder and toast it. Close the flame and keep it side


  • In a bowl take crispy chana add chopped onion, tomato, green chilly, coriander, lemon juice and chat masala mix it well





  • Enjoy

Fruit Platter with creamy dip

Recently I had real guests (unannounced) and very much unwilling to be served anything cooked with oil or cheese. So I decided to serve them fruits with a change. The change here was a creamy Rose flavour dip. This dip was prepared with curd and it won their hearts...



Preparation Time : 20 Min

Cooking Time : 0 Min

Ingredients :

  • Fruits (Kiwi, Strawberries, Grapes, Oranges.... any other of your choice)
  • 1/2 Cup hung curd
  • Few drops rose essence or syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon icing sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped Almonds, Pistachio 
Procedure :
  • First prepare fruits. Wash them nicely, peel and cut them into wedges

  • For dip : 
  • Take hung curd in a bowl mix it with whisk, add icing sugar to it and mix it well ........


  • Now add Rose essence to this and mix it 

  • In a serving dish transfer this creamy dip garnish it with chopped almonds and pistachio 

  • Arrange fruits in a platter and serve it with creamy dip....

Instant Dhokla

Instant Dhokla

Dhokla is all time popular Gujarati dish. Mostly served as breakfast,  as a side dish, or as snacks. My family love it so in my house we make it very oftenly. I gave it a twist by adding water, sugar and lemon juice syrup which make it more soft and sweet and sour.... :)

Ingredients :

  • cupspinach, shredded, ( palak)
    1 cup fenugreek leaves, shredded,( methi)
    1 ½ cup chick pea flour,( besan)
    ½ cup water
    2 tbsp sugar,(cheeni/ shakkar)
    2 tsp ginger-green chilli paste, ( adrak aur hari mirch ki paste)
    ½ tsp Mustard seeds,(sarson/ rai)
    2 tbsp fruit salt
    1 red chilli for garnish, laal mirch,
    Salt to taste, namak
    1 tsp Oil + for greasing the dhokla moulds
    2 tbsp coriander, chopped,( dhaniya)
    ½ cup coconut, grated, (kasa hua nariyal)
    4 tbsp coriander chutney to serve

    1 Cup chick pea flour (besan)
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 2 Tablespoon coriander leaves
  • 1 Tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of turmeric (haldi) 
  • 1 Tablespoon fruit salt
  • Water to make smooth paste
For Garnishing :

  • 1 Tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 Teaspoon mustard seeds
  • Few curry leaves
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Pinch of hing (asafoetida)
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 cup water
Procedure :
  • In a bowl take chick pea flour, add 1 tablespoon of oil, sugar, lemon juice, haldi, salt according to taste

  • Now add water to this mixture and make a smooth paste
  • Now add fruit salt to this smooth mixture and gently mix it again
  • Now take Dhokla plates, grease them with cooking oil. Pour the mixture into the greased plates. Steam the Dhokla mixture for 7 to 10 min
  • Remove the Dhoklas from heat, demould the Dhokla cut it into any shapes of your choice
  • In a bowl take 1/2 cup of water, add sugar and lemon juice to this and mix it well
  • Now pour this water mixture over the Dhoklas
  • Now prepare tempering for the Dhoklas in a pan, heat oil add mustard seeds, pinch of asafoetida, now add curry leaves, green chillies, and sesame seeds. Cook this for 2 minutes and now garnish the Dhoklas with this tempering 

  • Serve it hot with red and green chutney.....
